Sign-in problems

Can’t sign in, the Admin area is missing, or you have no organisation yet? Work through these checks.

Almost every sign-in problem comes down to one of three things: where you are trying to sign in, whether your account has finished its organisation setup, or a role change that has not loaded yet. Here is how to tell them apart and fix each one.

You cannot sign in at all

Cadence sign-in happens inside the desktop app, not on the website. Open the app and sign in with the email address and password you used to create your account.

  • Check the machine has a working internet connection: the app verifies your account and loads your organisation over the network the first time you sign in.
  • If a password sign-in is rejected, use the “Forgot password?” link on the sign-in screen inside the app to reset it, then sign in with the new password.
A web sign-in page is not where you log in
If you land on a web “sign in” page, it is not a separate login: it only points you back to the desktop app. Do your day-to-day signing in inside the app. See signing in for the full flow.

The Admin area is missing after a role change

Your role is resolved once, at sign-in. If someone has just made you an admin or owner, the app will not show the Admin area until it re-reads your role.

  1. Confirm the change was made
Ask the owner or admin to check that your new role is saved. See roles and permissions for what each role unlocks.
  2. Restart the app
Fully quit Cadence and open it again. Your role is re-resolved on the next sign-in, and the Admin area appears.
Note
This works the other way too. If a role was removed, the change only takes full effect after the app restarts. A restart is always the first thing to try when what you can see does not match the role you expect.

You have no organisation yet

A brand-new account with no organisation cannot get past sign-in into a workspace, because there is nothing to load. Creating an organisation happens inside the desktop app, on the screen that appears after you sign in.

  • If you are the first person on your team, create your organisation inside the app after signing in.
  • If a colleague shared a join link with you, open the link in your browser and sign up there using a matching domain email address: this joins you to their organisation rather than creating your own.

Still stuck after a restart and confirming your organisation? Re-download the latest build from the downloads page and try a clean sign-in.
